Research on the Multifunction Fabric Loaded with Nano-ZnO and β-Cyclodextrin

Abstract: Nano-ZnO sol solution was prepared by using Zn(CH3COO)2•2H2O as raw material and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was added into the sol, then cotton fabric was treaded with the sol by pad-dry-cure technique. Moreover, the fixation fastness of the composite sol on the fabric was improved by adding the adhesives. Based on the tests of anti-UV, photocatalysis, antibacterial and weight gain rate after adsorbing essence, the results showed that the treated cotton fabrics added with β-CD had better adsorbability to essence, a… Show more

“…It has been realized that β -CD can be fixed onto the fiber surface through physical bonding but cannot form a direct covalent bond with the fiber and textile materials; hence, cyclodextrins have been synthesized with reactive groups to chemically bind to various substrates especially textiles. For example, β -CD has been modified with a polycarboxylic acid that can be attached to β -CD by the esterification linkage (Nazi et al , 2012; Wang and He, 2011).…”

“…The uses of ZnO as a photocatalytic degradation material has been extensively studied [1]. The extensive properties of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) derived in useful for solubilizing and stabilizing highly hydrophobic molecules in solvents such as water [2][3][4][5][6][7]. These properties can be used with nanoparticle to destroy the organic dyes in the industrial wastes.…”
