Research on the Whole Lifecycle Emission Reduction Effect of Buildings with Different Structures in Severely Cold Regions—A Case Study in China

Abstract: Since the construction industry is one of China’s high carbon emission industries, to achieve China’s carbon neutrality target by 2060, CO2 emissions in cold regions must be reduced. At the same time, forests have excellent carbon sequestration abilities, so this paper takes residential buildings in severely cold regions as the object of carbon emission reduction research. A model of a two-story building in Changchun was constructed, and the life-cycle carbon emissions of reinforced concrete and wood structure… Show more

“…Property management is the operation and maintenance for the building operation stage, so its innovative path and strategy will have a great impact on the carbon emissions in the building operation stage, and if its low-carbon transformation process links the building materials production, building design and building construction stages, it will realize the carbon emission reduction in the whole process of building. [2] According to Zhao Linfu (2021), green property management includes five elements: energy saving management, water saving management, waste classification management, environmental greening management and pollution prevention management. [3] Among them, energy saving management and pollution prevention management are closely related to carbon emissions.…”

“…In this regard, Figure 1 presents the carbon emissions resulting from each of the building stages, highlighting that the carbon emissions from the operation stage account for 21% of the total in China. On this basis, it is crucial to reduce the carbon emissions from the building operation stage, as a key milestone towards achieving the goal of near-zero energy consumption [9,10]. Furthermore, the energy consumption from heating during building operations accounts for a high proportion of the total energy consumption [11].…”

“…Sustainable construction issues are the subject of many scientific publications, including, among others, [8,9]. A case study of the environmental impact of investment projects is characterised, among others, in [10,11]. Most attention has been paid to the energy efficiency of buildings relating to their use phases and over the entire life cycle of buildings [12][13][14], as well as the energy performance of buildings with different material and functional solutions [15,16].…”
