Research on Turning Motion Targets and Velocity Estimation in High Resolution Spaceborne SAR

Abstract: The development of high resolution SAR makes the influence of moving target more prominent, which results in defocusing and other unexplained phenomena. This paper focuses on the research of imaging signatures and velocity estimation of turning motion targets. In this paper, the turning motion is regarded as the straight line motion of continuous change of moving direction. Through the analysis of the straight line motion with constant velocity and the geometric modeling of the turning motion in spaceborne SAR… Show more

“…In [14]- [17], the uncooperative motions were analyzed, and approaches for SAR GMTI processing and refocusing were proposed. Furthermore, the influence of the rotating target on SAR imaging and the corresponding refocusing algorithms were further explored in [18]- [21]. Moreover, many studies have focused on parameter estimation for vibration.…”

“…Besides the above-mentioned experimental systems, there is no operational civilian satellite supporting the ATI technique. To provide the ATI technique for future satellites and verify its effectiveness, for the first time, the current measurement experiments based on ATI are conducted on China's Gaofen-3 satellite (GF-3) [25] from 2018 to 2019. The details of the experiments are introduced in the paper.…”

“…Ground moving target indication (GMTI) and track formation have received growing attention in both civilian and military applications [1][2][3], with the development of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technique. However, moving targets are defocused and dislocated in SAR image due to unknown motion parameters [4], especially in the case of long dwell time.…”
