“…In the first strand of the literature, studies elaborate on the perceptions of the EU in bilateral and multilateral relations, and in conflict settings. Starting with perceptions of the EU in bilateral relations, scholars have explored views on the EU held by rising powers, including China (Lai et al 2019, Zhang 2020, India (Lai et al 2019, Sachdeva 2019 and Russia , Foxall 2019, Ananieva 2020.
