Residual lifetime estimation for the mining truck tires

Abstract: Reliability analysis has a very important role in supporting the operation of a system in harsh working conditions such as mines. Haul trucks are considering as a main asset of an open pit mine. Dump trucks are comprised of different sub-systems and among them, tires have a significant effect on the haulage economy. This study focused on the remaining life estimation of the mining truck tires considering the environmental operating conditions at an open pit iron ore mine in Iran. To achieve this, the proportio… Show more

“…In open pit mines, truck-shovel, belt conveyors, semi-mobile, and mobile crushers are different systems used to transport the broken ore from the working face of a mine to the dumping area. Among these, the truck-and-shovel system is an economical, flexible, and efficient system known as a conventional loading and hauling system 2 . Having more efficient and safe transportation systems leads to operating mines with the lowest operational cost.…”

“…It is therefore imperative to assess the reliability of these machines and to calculate the likelihood of their continuous operation without failures. In recent times, the reliability analysis of various types of mining equipment, including mining trucks [1,2], Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) units [3,4], shovels [5,6], draglines [7,8], and drilling machines [9,10], has been extensively explored.…”
