Abstract:The speckle pattern in ultrasound imaging reduces image quality. The Thomson's multitaper approach smoothes the speckle but one drawback is the decrease of the spatial resolutions. It is shown in this paper that the combination of Pulse Inversion and Thomson's multitaper techniques called Multitaper Pulse Inversion (MPI) can reduce speckle noise and limit the resolution loss on second harmonic images in simulations and acquisitions.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
