Resonant Frequency Ultrasonic P-Waves for Evaluating Uniaxial Compressive Strength of the Stabilized Slag–Cement Sediments

Abstract: Marine sediments can be stabilized by ultra high-strength binders: cement, Cement Kiln Dust (CKD) and slag. The properties of the stabilized soil indicate potential to their reuse. This study investigated the performance of the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) in the marine sediments stabilized by binder (cement, CKD, slag), tested by ultrasonic P-waves. Materials include 194 specimens collected from the port of Gothenborg. The experiment was performed in Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI). The UCS of s… Show more

“…In contrast to the thematic applications of GIS specifically for Bolivia, using scripting techniques was presented as a special opportunity of machine-based cartography. Specifically, the scripting approach provides advantages in Earth studies in geological, geophysical, and geotechnical modelling of soil data, seismic analysis and simulation, and risk mitigation and vulnerability assessment [67][68][69]105,129]. The advantages of scripts can be explained by the increased speed of data processing and the accurate plotting and machine-based workflow routine, which significantly minimises man-made errors and misprints.…”

“…The seismic velocity of P-waves in the specimens has been measured with the resonant frequency technique, free-free resonate column test using existing methods [17,19]. All elastic bodies have a set of resonant frequencies (fr) that are directly related to the body's boundary conditions, elastic constants, geometry, and mass.…”
