RESPONSE SURFACE OPTIMIZATION OF BIOSURFACTANT PRODUCED BYPseudomonas aeruginosaMA01 ISOLATED FROM SPOILED APPLES

Abstract: A potent biosurfactant-producing bacterial strain isolated from spoiled apples was identified by 16S rRNA as Pseudomonas aeruginosa MA01. Compositional analysis revealed that the extracted biosurfactant was composed of high percentages of lipid (66%, w/w) and carbohydrate (32%, w/w). The surface tension of pure water decreased gradually with increasing biosurfactant concentration to 32.5 mN m(-1) with critical micelle concentration (CMC) value of 10.1 mg L(-1). The Fourier transform infrared spectrum of extrac… Show more

“…In addition to these, the production efficiency of glycolipids using microorganisms has been improved along with the progress of Page 6 of 46 biotechnology by the amelioration of fermentation conditions 45 , the application of solid state fermentation process [83][84][85] and the optimization of production by means of the response surface methodology. 86,87 Generally, the yields of bioconversion are always so high that they permitted the retention of huge quantity of glycolipid biosurfactants for diverse applications.…”

“…Glycolipid biosurfactants can be produced from inexpensive raw materials that are available in large quantities, such as industrial wastes and oily byproducts, including hydrocarbons, frying oil waste and olive oil waste. In addition to these, the production efficiency of glycolipids using microorganisms has been improved alongside progress in biotechnology as a result of the amelioration of fermentation conditions, the application of the solid state fermentation process and the optimization of production by means of response surface methodology . Generally, the yields of bioconversion are always so high that they permit the retention of huge quantity of glycolipid biosurfactants for diverse applications.…”
