“…Different authors have also tried to facilitate acne scar treatment by suggesting schematic diagrams that correlate scars morphology and treatment, 21,30–38 whereas others have used sequential therapeutic plans in treating theses scars. Whang and Lee 32 suggested three stages: 1, 50% TCA focal chemical peeling in pitted areas; 2, CO 2 laser vaporization 1 to 3 months later, and 3, full‐face dermabrasion 6 to 8 weeks later.…”

“…Ablative lasers have been found to produce variable results and are associated with a prolonged postoperative recovery period. 7,[17][18][19][20] Neocollagenesis has been demonstrated histologically following nonablative treatment with a 1320-nm Nd:YAG laser 11,21-24 an intense pulsed light source, 22 a 585-nm pulsed dye laser, 25,26 and a 1450-nm erbium glass laser. 27 In 1994, Alster 28 reported the improvement of hypertrophic scars associated with dermal collagen remodeling following treatment with a 585nm flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser.…”

“…In the meantime, any depressed atrophic acne scars in the cheek areas are subcised and infiltrated with adipose tissue. 13 After these acne scars have been elevated the cheeks, chin, and nose are resurfaced with the CO 2 laser. Following laser abrasion, a tangential operating room light is used to survey the face for residual scarring.…”
