RETRACTED ARTICLE: Cerium oxide nanoparticle-loaded polyvinyl alcohol nanogels delivery for wound healing care systems on surgery

Abstract: This study was designed to establish the composition of wound bandages based on Cerium nanoparticle (CeNP)-loaded polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanogels. The CeNP nanogel (Ce-nGel) was fabricated by the fructose-mediated reduction of Cerium oxide solutions within the PVA matrix. The influences of different experimental limitations on PVA nanogel formations were examined. The nanogel particle sizes were evaluated by transmission electron microscopy and determined to range from $10 to 50 nm. Additionally, glycerol was… Show more

“…Nanofibre scaffolds hold great promise for wound healing. These scaffolds are used in the treatment of diabetic ulcers, skin rejuvenation, wound dressings to encourage healing, and haemostasis [ 147 , 148 ]. Nanofibres keep the wound area moist while it heals because of their capacity to hold more moisture within their structures.…”

“…The anti-bacterial activities are attributed to the production of ROS, inhibitory enzymes, damaging effects on bacterial DNA, and biofilms breaking ability to inhibit the bacterial growth [ 110 ]. In addition, other materials such as cerium, nitric oxide (NO) nanoparticles, bioactive glass, and carbon-based nanoparticles with intrinsic bioactivity have been utilized for chronic wound management [ 111 ]. However, toxicity that was induced by metal-based nanotherapeutics should be considered beforehand otherwise it’s in vivo applications would be restricted.…”

“…These nanogels were loaded with the antibiotic gemifloxacin. The nanogels were electrosprayed to be immobilized on the nanofiber mat, obtaining a hybrid release system in which the drug is encapsulated with the aim of being used as an antibacterial for wound dressing with a constant and controlled release of the drug [ 68 , 69 , 97 ].…”

“…Materials such as polyvinylpyrrolidone are used for their biocompatibility in the electrodynamic method to create nanomaterials. This polymer can be mixed with other biomaterials, for example, PCL, in such a way that nanofibers can be developed for healing tissues, helping to dress wounds and supporting their healing [ 97 , 98 ].…”
