Return Period for the Maximum Daily Rainfall in Eastern Highlands of Jordan Valley

Abstract: Daily rainfall data for the last 30 years was used in the study area. Various available plotting position formulae were employed to evaluate different return periods. Different statistical analyses of maximum daily rainfall were undertaken. The best-fit curves were the Gumbel and Log-Pearson type III (3LP). As a result, the Xt for the Log-Pearson type III and the Gumbel plotting position, which has the lowest RMSE as the best fit values for the return periods.
