Revised model of absorption corrections for theppppπ+πprocess

Abstract: We include new additional absorption corrections into the Lebiedowicz-Szczurek (nonresonant) model for pp → ppπ + π − or pp → ppπ + π − processes. They are related to the πN nonperturbative interaction in the final state of the reaction. The role of the absorption corrections is quantified for several differential distributions for √ s = 0.2, 1.96, 7, and 8 TeV. The new absorption corrections lead to further decrease of the cross section by about a factor of two. They change the shape of some distributions (dσ… Show more

“…Only purely central exclusive data expected from CMS-TOTEM and ATLAS-ALFA will allow to draw definite conclusions. The absorption effects due to pp and πp interactions, discussed in [16], lead to a significant modification of the shape of the distributions in φ pp , p t,p , t 1,2 and could also be tested by these experimental groups.…”

“…In this preliminary study we did not try to fit the existing data [9] by mixing different couplings because the CDF data are not fully exclusive (the outgoing p andp were not measured). The calculations were done at Born level and the absorption corrections were taken into account by multiplying the cross section by a common factor S 2 obtained from [16]. The two-pion continuum was fixed by choosing a form factor for the off-shell pionF π (k 2 ) = In Fig.…”
