Revisiting Renewable Energy Map in Indonesia: Seasonal Hydro and Solar Energy Potential for Rural Off-Grid Electrification (Provincial Level)

Abstract: Abstract. Regarding the acceleration of renewable energy diffusion in Indonesia as well as achieving the national energy mix target, renewable energy map is essential to provide useful information to build renewable energy system. This work aims at updating the renewable energy potential map, i.e. hydro and solar energy potential, with a revised model based on the global climate data. The renewable energy map is intended to assist the design off-grid system by hydropower plant or photovoltaic system, particula… Show more

“…The higher potential of micro hydropower is noticeable in the tributary of the main river order, where it has a high river flow rate. These results obtained here are in line with the earlier report [13], which finds that the hydro energy potential in Indonesia is dominated by the pico to the mini hydropower plant. In addition, it is also suggested that the head parameter (h) less than 30 m will be projected as a potential source for micro-hydropower plant [14].…”

“…The upper limit for the RPVS power consumption was 90 % of the installed power according to the board of directors' regulations in 2018. The daily average electricity consumption (DAEC), Ce,day [kWh] can be calculated by Equation ( 1): (1) where B e,month is the cost of monthly electricity bill [IDR], and P e [IDR/kWh] is the basic price of electricity.…”

“…Hesty et al [21] used the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model to evaluate wind energy potentials in Indonesia. Studies estimating hydropower potentials were also numerous either at national coverage [22,23], provincial level, or specific sites [24,25]. For solar energy potential, Nurliyanti et al [9] created a webbased application to estimate energy potentials of a rooftop solar PV installed on a house.…”
