Competitive relationships between hole-nesting passerine bird species can lead to mixed broods when two or more species lay their eggs in the same nest. On 5 May 2023, during a routine inspection of nest boxes in orange plantations in Sagunto, Eastern Spain, we found a Eurasian tree sparrow (Passer montanus) egg dumped among nine great tit (Parus major) eggs.
