Abstract:The electric field intensity and specific absorption rate (SAR) distribution are calculated in multilayer spherical and cylindrical mammalian cell models exposed to an EM plane wave at 900 and 2450 MHz. A comparative analysis with simple models (cytoplasm and membrane only) shows that cytoplasmic and extra-cellular bound water layers modify considerably the E field magnitude within the membrane.
