RFID together with multi-agent systems to control global value chains

Abstract: Nowadays, the cooperative intelligent transport systems are part of a largest system. Transportations are modal operations integrated in logistics and, logistics is the main process of the supply chain management. The supply chain strategic management as a simultaneous local and global value chain is a collaborative/cooperative organization of stakeholders, many times in co-opetition, to perform a service to the customers respecting the time, place, price and quality levels. The transportation, like other logi… Show more

“…(RFID) tags supported by a transparent optical-RF network can be used to sense, locate, and track an array of objects including luggage, mobile assets, and commercial goods, and can provide additional features such as boarding pass auto-tags, access control tags, and tagging support for airport commercial zones. 25 labor cost, thwart product counterfeiting and theft, enhance productivity gains, and maintain value standards. General applications range from highway toll collection, provide chain management, public carrying, controlling building access, animal tracking, developing smart home appliances, and remote keyless entry for automobiles to locating children.…”

“…Whüe there is much Hterature about the route optimization of intermodal transport (Macharis et al 2010;Ishfaq, Sox 2010;Macharis, Pekin 2009;Limbourg, Jourquin 2009;Janic 2008;Chang 2008;Sirikijpanichkul et al 2007), logistic chain analysis (Shariat-Mohaymany, Babaei 2010) and intermodal transportation manage-ment (Thül, Lim 2010;Kreutzberger 2008;Sirüdjpanichkul et al 2007), comparatively little has been written about applying sensors and RFID technologies in intermodal container transportation (Wen 2010;Amador, Emond 2010;Chavali et al 2008), the security of transferring RFID data (Kaya et al 2009) and employing other information technologies (Oztekin et al 2010;Dias et al 2009). The basis for this paper has been provided by Ngai et al (2007), Woo et al (2009) and Ferrer et al (2010).…”

“…Ko et al (2011), the authors have designed product tracking system that can collaborate with the EPC (Electronic Product Code) Network. According to Dias et al (2009) few enterprises realized flexibility and increased competitiveness over the recent decade through implementation of 'lean' and 'just-in-time' principle. Unlike many analytical studies, investigate the benefits of RFID technology under more realistic setting is presented by Sari (2010); results from the simulation model show that RFID technology integration within a supply chain enables significantly greater benefits when the level of collaboration between the participants is more intensive.…”
