RNA transcript expression of IGF-I/PI3K pathway components in regenerating skeletal muscle is sensitive to initial injury intensity

Abstract: During early skeletal muscle regeneration in mice, transcript expressions for some components of the IGF-I/PI3K pathway are sensitive to initial injury intensity induced by freeze damage.

“…miR-206 is a muscle-specific miRNA and its increase in postprandial lipemia suggests it is released from this tissue in response to a fat challenge, although no significant changes were observed in its tissue of origin (Figure 4B). Several other studies have reported their secretion upon muscle damage [55]. miR-409-3p is a brain-enriched miRNA with very high expression in the pituitary gland, but it is also expressed in other brain regions.…”

“…In this combined regulatory network, gene PIK3CB, VEGFA, MAPK14, PIK3R1, and CASP3 were identified as hub genes, and their related miRNAs were detected as hub miRNAs. As a potential related miRNA of PIK3CB, miR-206 was reported as a regulatory miRNA on cell proliferation and apoptosis [ 50 , 51 ], and was identified with PIK3CB showing sensitive to initial injury intensity induced by freeze damage [ 52 ]. Another potential related miRNA of PIK3CB, miR-125a, was reported as important regulation miRNA on metabolism [ 53 ] and cell development [ 54 ].…”

“…Among all mature miRNAs, only miR-1 is up-regulated, while there is no change for the expression of miR-133a and miR-206 after taking exercise for 3 and 6 h [ 86 ]. Through IGF-1/Akt signal pathway, the expression of miR-1 can promote protein synthesis and hypertrophy of skeletal muscle [ 87 ]. After taking 12-week resistance exercise, 56 adult subjects are divided into high-response team and low-response team based on their changes of lean body weight (LBW).…”
