Role of Serum miRNAs in the Prediction of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Patients

Abstract: Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) causes a significantly increased risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Here, we focused on the altered expression of serum miRNAs and their predictive value for OHSS in PCOS patients. Methods: We used the TaqMan low density array followed by individual quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction to identify and validate the expression of serum miRNAs in PCOS patients likely to develop severe OHSS. Results: The miR-16 and miR-223 expres… Show more

“…miR-223 suppresses cardiomyocyte hypertrophy by modulating the expression of its target TNNI3K, a troponin interacting kinase [27]. In a study identifying differentially expressed miRNAs in polycystic ovarian syndrome, miR-223 was found to be downregulated and associated with increased risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome [28]. Exosomes mediates miR-223 could inhibit Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor-Beta (PDGFRβ) expression in Vascular Smooth Muscle cells [29].…”
