Rs‐198 Liquid Biofertilizers Affect Microbial Community Diversity and Enzyme Activities and Promote Vitis vinifera L. Growth

Abstract: Chemical fertilizers were applied on perennial tree vines to obtain high yields, which have resulted in considerable deterioration of soil quality, and it is likely to have negative impacts on the development of the grape industry. In this study, P. putida Rs-198 liquid biofertilizer (Rs198LBF) was inoculated into grape rhizosphere soils to assess its influence on grape growth and microbial community. Field experiment results showed that grape growth and quality increased depending on the concentrations of Rs1… Show more

“…Erdogan et al (2018) achieved similar improvements with combinations of a wide range of PGPR strains in grafted rootstocks of V. berlandieri and V. riparia in Turkey. In China, Lu et al (2020) observed enhanced growth and final grape quality, following the application of P. putida Rs-198 to a perennial variety.…”

“…In organic fertilizers, some organisms like earthworms need to convert the fertilizer into useful material which plants can absorb easily. Plant-growth promoting rhizobacteria is the most used bacteria in producing biofertilizers since it enhances plant growth by releasing potassium (K), fixing nitrogen (N), solving phosphorus (P), and producing hormones ( Lu et al., 2020 ). Biofertilizers come in solid, liquid, polymer entrapped formulations, and fluidized bed dry formulations ( Mącik et al., 2020 ).…”

“…Resistance development in the pathogens and residual toxicity of chemical fungicides on the environment and human health have compelled researchers and commercial grape growers to look for alternative strategies (Yildirim and Dardeniz, 2010 ; Miles et al, 2012 ; Fernández-González et al, 2013 ; Çetinkaya and Fadime, 2016 ). With the possible withdrawal of chemical fungicides, including sulfur powder, from the schedule of the acceptable input chart and the demand for residue-free grapes, there is an urgent need to find suitable alternatives for disease management in the organic systems of viticulture (Carisse et al, 2009 ; Yildirim and Dardeniz, 2010 ; Lu H. et al, 2020 ). Among them, the development of resistant cultivars with a high degree of resistance/tolerance to respective pathogens to produce high-quality grapes and wines commensurate with the parameters for higher standards of food safety is of great importance (Pap et al, 2016 ; Riaz et al, 2020 ).…”
