Abstract: Introduction: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), further characterized into Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, is a chronic condition that involves immune-mediated inflammation and subsequent damage to the gastrointestinal tract. Treatment involves immunosuppression, increasing risk for infections and malignancies.
