The advances in the Internet of Things (IoT) provide several chances to develop a variety of innovations supporting smart home users in several industries including healthcare, energy management, etc. Ubiquitous support by intelligent appliances at modern homes, which constantly work to gather information can help us to solve everyday issues. In this paper, we present a comparative study of recent advances in smart home development. The study aims to present the main trends in this field. During the analysis of the research reports and patents, we identify the propositions that constitute the main research streams. Through extensive analysis, we provide an outlook on the wide spectrum of the proposed solutions. We also analyze the main market to present which publishers are leading with the innovative science in this field. We also show the leaders of science and technology in the World. Finally, we define the ratio of the developments and outline the next stage of the development in the smart home industry. The shape of the house was evolving during ages, cultural revolutions, and climate changes. Summary The Internet of Things (IoT) is a connection amongst people and applications to another dimension of machine‐to‐machine communication. IoT scenario is unequivocally related with the development of the advancement of wireless sensor systems (WSNs) and radio‐frequency identification (RFID) frameworks. Owing to the technological advances around the world, energy demand is increasing exponentially. Energy proficiency has turned out to be one of the real worries in the present life that essentially influence every single human action. In communication system, return loss is a major issue for transmission process. Owing to return loss, a huge amount of power consumption occurs. This phenomenon is contemporary with transmission process, and it will initiate a serious problem for high‐speed moving substance like aircraft, rockets, and spaceship. To overcome this problem, a four‐element cylindrical antenna (conformal) array with better axial radiation is proposed. The four U‐shaped slots are uniformly wrapped around on a cylindrical surface, which produces tilted radiation. To enhance the axial radiation, four conformal elements are reefed by a one‐ to four‐microstrip feed network. The proposed conformal design has a bandwidth of 200 MHz (narrow bandwidth) at the center frequency of 3.9 GHz, covering the range of 3 to 3.9 GHz, with the gain of 4.9 dBic, and can be suitable for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), wireless avionics intra‐communication (WAIC), and so forth. The proposed design is low profile and can be used for high‐speed avionic applications. Finally, machine learning technique is explored to design a model for a smart antenna with optimistic parameters to reduce return loss and enhance the transmission rate.

A large number of sensors and intelligent devices are interconnected via the internet to collect data as part of the internet of things (IoT) applications. Data security is one of the important challenges for these applications due to vulnerability of the internet. IoT devices limiting factors, such as delay-sensitivity, restricted memory, and low computing capability, make choosing the appropriate data encryption standard extremely important. The current research focuses on evaluating four data security, block cipher standards for the IoT smart home application. Considering the encryption/decryption speed, DES, TDES, AES, and SAFER+ standards are evaluated by implementing the algorithms with MATLAB to determine the best security solution. The simulation of the four standards shows the superiority of SAFER+ standard in term of encryption speed compared to others added to its capabilities on security, and software implementation opportunity. The use of classical symmetric key standards for real time data security in the IoT application can be validated through the selection of SAFER+.
