SAR Target CFAR Detection Via GPU Parallel Operation

Abstract: The constant false alarm rate with convolution and pooling (CP-CFAR) method, which can improve the detection efficiency via GPU parallel acceleration in the airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, is proposed in this paper. The constant false alarm rate (CFAR) method is one of the most widely used methods for target detection in airborne SAR images. However, since the CFAR is performed on a pixel-by-pixel basis, the time consumption will increase rapidly with the expansion of image scene. Even if the G… Show more

“…Among the aforementioned parameters, P t requires artificial settings. Generally, when the TP-CFAR method is used for ship detection in SAR images, P t is set to be between 1 × 10 −3 and 1 × 10 −6 [48,49]. Because of the difference between nighttime light images and SAR images, this article tested the two types of nighttime light images using the TP-CFAR method, and finally, the false alarm rate is set to 1 × 10 −5 .…”

“…SAR has unique advantages over optical sensors in terms of all-day and all-weather imaging capabilities, which is widely used in military and civil fields. Current research on SAR includes bistatic SAR imaging [1,2], spaceborne SAR [3][4][5], and moving target recognition [6][7][8], to name a few.…”
