Satellite Ocean-Related Imagery Applications Program

Abstract

Sea ice distribution, sea surface temperature contouring, and Iceberg/Ocean Vessel Detection and I d e n t i f i c a t i o n have been i d e n t i f i e d as areas of iumediate concern t o marine a c t i v i t i e s off t h e Canadian East Coast. These are areas, also, in which LAI' DSAT and N O M d a t a from t h e Shoe Cove S a t e l l i t e Receiving Station have been investigated and found both useful and operational with respect to providi n g d a t a t o u s e r s .The S a t e l l i t e Ocean-Related Imagery Applications Program allowed the deuonstrat i o n of t h i s t r a n s f e r of s a t e l l i t e technology t o ocean i n t e r e s t s .
