Scaling-Factor and Design Guidelines for Shielded-Capacitive Power Transfer

Abstract: This paper introduces scaling-factor and design guidelines for shielded-capacitive power transfer (shielded-CPT) systems, offering a simplified design process, coupling-structure optimization, and consideration of safety. A novel scaling-factor-analysis method is proposed by determining the configuration of the coupling structure that improves system safety and increases operating efficiency while minimizing the gap between the shield and the coupler plate. The inductor-series resistance is also analyzed to st… Show more

“…This structure is a four-plate parallel structure with two extra shielding plates to provide better protection against electric fields, as seen in Figure 14 d. The additional plates do not take part in the power transfer and are only coupled via parasitic capacitance. Studies have shown that this approach improves safety and efficiency [ 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 ].…”

“…Abramov et al present a model to realize cross-coupling relationships between input and output ports of the CPT system [103]. The six-plate coupling structure includes active four plates inside and larger passive two plates behind to reduce electric field emissions [104][105][106][107][108][109]. The electric field repeater is proposed to increase the transfer distance [110].…”

“…Furthermore, Hashizume (2005Hashizume ( , 2015 has a qualitative analysis of structural changes in agriculture and rural areas, using agricultural census data on the current status of efforts to revitalize villages and the current status and trends of local resource management. Additionally, there are papers on rural community cooperation on renewable energy supply in the region, such as Rachmawati and Fountain (2020) and Muharam et al (2020). While previous studies have analyzed the activities of rural residents for their communities (water management, disaster recovery, community revitalization, local resource management, etc.…”
