Scheduling Seaside Resources at Container Ports

Abstract: This article provides an overview of operational planning and scheduling problems at seaport container terminals. It considers problems that deal with the seaside resources of a terminal, namely the berth space and the quay cranes, in detail. The corresponding problems of berth allocation, crane assignment, and crane scheduling are investigated in detail by providing comprehensive literature surveys and examples of mathematical models that are found in the recent literature.
