Screening Constant by Unit Nuclear Charge Photoionization of Rb\(^{2+}\) Ions

Abstract: Photoionization data of the trans-Fe element Rb 2+ are reported. Rydberg series 4s 2 4p 4 (1 D 2)nd and 4s 2 4p 4 (3 P 1)nd Rydberg series of Rb 2+ from the 2 P • 3 / 2 ground state and the 2 P • 1/2 metastable state of Rb 2+ converging respectively to the 4s 2 4p 4 (1 D 2) 4s 2 4p 4 (3 P 1) series limit in Rb 3 + are considered. Calculations are performed in the framework of the Screening constant by unit nuclear charge (SCUNC) method. Accurate data are tabulated up to n = 40. It is shown that the SCUNC analy… Show more

“…The remaining f 1 -parameter is to be evaluated empirically using the ALS data of Macaluso et al, [15] for a given ( 2S+1 L J ) µl level with ν = 0. The empirical procedure of the determination of the f 1 -screening constant along with the corresponding has been explained in details in our previous works [11][12][13][14][16][17][18]].…”

“…The main motivation of the present work is to provide accurate high-lying energy resonances of Rydberg series of resonances due to 4p→nd and 4s→np transitions that may be useful guidelines for investigators focusing their studies on the photoionization of the Br 3+ ion. For this purpose, we apply the SCUNC method [11][12][13][14][16][17][18] to provide the first theoretical calculations of the energy resonances of the Rydberg series of resonances due to 4p→nd and 4s→np transitions converging respectively to the 4s 2 4p ( 2 P 3/2 ) and 4s4p 2 ( 4 P 3/2 , 2 D 5/2 ) series limits in Br 4+ . Analysis of the present results is achieved in the framework of the standard quantum-defect theory and of the SCUNC procedure by calculating the effective charge.…”

“…The present work is motivated by two goals: firstly, to provide accurate data for the 1s 2 2snp 1 P • , 1s 2 2snd 1,3 D, and 1s 2 2pnd 3 D (n > 8) Rydberg series of the Be-like (Z = 8 − 18) ions that may be useful primary source for the NIST database; and secondly, to enlighten the discrepancies between the MCDF results [20] and the Opacity Project Team (OPT) predictions [21] especially for the 1s 2 2s9p 1,3 D 2 levels of the Al 9+ ions. In our study, we apply the Screening constant by unit nuclear charge (SCUNC) method [1,[15][16][17][18]. The SCUNC formalism has been used previously to report precise energy resonances and natural widths on various Be-like ions such as Be [17], B + [15], and Be-like (Z = 8 − 18) ions [16].…”
