Sculpted pulsed indium atomic beams via selective laser ablation of thin film

Abstract: We present a novel experiment for the generation of sculpted pulsed indium atomic beams of regular arrays in one and two-dimensions via rear side ablation of indium by two and four beams interference pattern using second harmonic of high power Nd: YAG laser under high vacuum~10 Ϫ5 Torr!.

“…Photograph of the liquid cell is shown in Figure 2. Beam deflection set-up, (Alti & Khare 2006a, 2006b shown in Figure 1, was used to measure cavitation bubble and charge-particle velocity. The second harmonic of Q-switched Nd: YAG laser (HYL-101) was focused with 15 cm lens into the liquid cell filled with de-ionized distilled water (conductivity , 1 mV 21 ).…”

“…Understanding the basic principles of coupling between laser radiation and surface [16] is necessary in developing industrial and medical applications of laser beams, both at low levels and high levels of impact, ranging from texturing to ablation [17][18][19]. Very often, accompanying processes and interactions with the plasma usually formed in front of the target [20] are as important, too.…”
