Search for disturbing loads in power network with the use of voltage and current fluctuation

Abstract: The paper discusses a set of the most frequently used measures of voltage fluctuation, which are useful in searching for disturbing loads. A procedure appropriate for searching the loads causing voltage fluctuation is proposed. The procedure utilizes two measures of fluctuation: P st indicator as well as minimal and maximal values of voltages and currents. An analysis is included of four exemplary measuring results, recorded in a LV network. The effect of this analysis is a conclusion whether a disturbing load… Show more

“…For the time scale between 1 s and 10 min (the lower limit for standards on slow voltage magnitude variations in most countries) no standardized or generally accepted indices exist. An index referred to as "very-short variations", was proposed in 2005 [51,52], but received only limited following [53][54][55][56][57][58][59]. However, the need for performance indices in this range of time scale remains big: this is where the main impact of fast variations in production with solar-power installations will be, as was quantified among others by [60].…”

“…The measurement results, registered with those devices, make it possible to diagnose the state of power network-e.g., through detecting disturbing loads. The discussion of these topics can be found, among others, in scientific papers [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. Taking into account the possible applications of power quality analysers, it is very important to evaluate the inaccuracy of measurement results obtained using these analysers.…”

“…Such information allows us to detect faults and sudden changes in power demand. The nature of time variations of grid impedance can also be used for verification of flicker source localization methods, like the one presented in [2].…”
