Secrecy rate optimization for intelligent reflecting surface aided multi‐input‐single‐output terahertz communication

Abstract: Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is an emerging paradigm to enhance terahertz (THz) communications with low hardware costs and reduced power consumptions. In this work, we study an IRS‐aided THz multi‐input‐single‐output secure communication system, where a base station (BS) transmits confidential signals to a single‐antenna user with the presence of a single‐antenna eavesdropper. We seek to maximize the secrecy rate by designing the discrete phase‐shifts at the IRS and the precoder at the BS, which is an … Show more

“…Where a multiple antennas BS, is considered, communicating a secure messages to a single user (Bob) in the presence of a single Eve, both having a single antenna. In [38], [40]- [42], optimization problems are proposed to maximize the SR at the legitimate user by jointly optimizing the beamforming at the BS and the phase shifts at the RIS. Due to the intractability of this problem, different methodologies have been adopted.…”

“…Due to the intractability of this problem, different methodologies have been adopted. In [38], RIS discrete phase shifts is assumed and an AO method is followed, where for a given RIS phase shifts matrix, the optimal BS precoder is obtained using Rayleigh-Ritz theorem. On the other hand, for a given BS precoder matrix, a cross-entropy-based algorithm is adopted to optimize the RIS phase shifts matrix.…”

“…Online and streaming recommender systems [17]: most hybrid recommender systems are designed for batch processing; i.e., the initial model is constructed from static data and the model is periodically reconstructed on all data as new data arrive. However, keeping the recommendation model up-to-date with the arrival of new data is an important requirement to ensure the quality of recommendations [18].…”

“…Similarly, to enhance the security of the IRS assisted THz system, the work in [57] aims to maximize the secrecy rate with low complexity and high secure performance. In addition, the alternating optimization algorithm is also used to iteratively design the precoder and discrete phase-shifts matrix [58]. In contrast with the multiple-input single-output (MISO) systems, the IRS assisted multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems is more meaningful at high frequency bands [59][60][61], which employs a large number of array antennas to conquer the serious path loss at both transmitter and receiver.…”
