Secure and Fast Emergency Road Healthcare Service Based on Blockchain Technology for Smart Cities

Abstract: Road accidents occur everywhere in the world and the numbers of people dead or injured increase from time to time. People hope that emergency vehicles and medical staff will arrive as soon as possible at the scene of the accident. The development of recent technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) allows us to find solutions to ensure rapid movement by road in emergencies. Integrating the healthcare sector and smart vehicles, IoT ensures this objective. This integration gives rise to two paradigms: the… Show more

“…Amel Ksibi et al propose a system that combines the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) concepts with blockchain technology, enabling emergency vehicles to arrive at the accident scene promptly and speeding up interventions in emergency cases. Additionally, this system ensures the security of patient data [ 61 ]. Moreover, blockchain technology has already been applied in conjunction with fifth-generation wireless networks in the context of newborn emergency transport [ 93 ].…”

“…Patients are more actively involved in the decision-making process and IoMT enables faster diagnosis through the collection of large-scale medical data. However, in all of this, confidentiality, security, and quick responses are taken into consideration when exchanging sensitive medical data (Ksibi, et al 2023). Traditional healthcare institutions have recognized the need to innovate their workflow, yet there is a great deal of uncertainty about digitization (Tripathy, et al 2022).…”

“…To achieve sustainable environments and higher quality of life, it is paramount to take into account all the different aspects of the healthcare systems that are not universal around the globe. Researchers explore topics like the supply chains of pharmaceuticals [10], combine technologies like blockchain with IoT infrastructure for the optimized road health assistance [11], and even topics that do not affect the patient directly but electricity management in a hospital can bring other types of quality of service improvements and increase the well-being of patients leading the society to a more sustainable world [12].…”
