Security in V2I Communications: A Systematic Literature Review

Abstract: Recently, the number of vehicles equipped with wireless connections has increased considerably. The impact of that growth in areas such as telecommunications, infotainment, and automatic driving is enormous. More and more drivers want to be part of a vehicular network, despite the implications or risks that, for instance, the openness of wireless communications, its dynamic topology, and its considerable size may bring. Undoubtedly, this trend is because of the benefits the vehicular network can offer. General… Show more

“…To maintain the safety and security of this technology, we will explore the formal methods for implementing secure network protocols and information exchange, such as IEEE 802.11p and C-V2X [33]. The addition of data encryption and Rx to Tx authentication methods will help to ensure the safety of the data transmitted between the CERPM and the vehicle [34].…”

“…Numerous studies have delved into these challenges. The study [7] addressed the security issues in V2I communications, presenting the literature review on privacypreserving schemes. In [8], the authors highlighted the latency problem in V2C communications, emphasizing the importance of real-time data exchange for advanced driving features and traffic management.…”

“…Modern vehicles not only feature advanced electronic control units (ECUs) but also make use of extensive networks of sensors and communication protocols. Among these, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) [1] and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) [2] communications are critical. V2V communication allows vehicles to transmit data to each other, facilitating real-time traffic and road condition updates, while V2I communication connects vehicles to road infrastructure like traffic signals and roadside sensors, enabling broader data sharing and smarter traffic management.…”
