Abstract:Leptochloa chinensis (L.) Nees is a troublesome rice weed. We collected 242 L. chinensis populations from rice fields in eastern China and studied the duration of seed dormancy and the seed germination ability at different temperatures. All L. chinensis populations studied exhibited seed dormancy. The periods required to reach 50% germination under optimal conditions were 31–235 days, with an average of 96 days.
