Abstract:Seed priming is a cost-effective technique which involves prior seed exposure to an abiotic stress that makes the seed more resistant to future lethal exposure. Seed priming stimulates pre-germination metabolic processes and makes the seed ready for sprouting. It helps to up regulate the antioxidant enzyme activitiesand repairs membrane damage. These changes promote seed vigour and emergence under abiotic stress. This article aims to review the different priming processes as well as the physiological, biochemi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
