“…The main objective of this research was to comprehensively analyze studies on the effectiveness of psychodrama in treating trauma caused by sexual abuse, more specifically to examine the effectiveness of the role reversal technique. The findings suggest the effectiveness of psychodrama in general (Asker, 1996; Gatta et al, 2010; Mortan Sevi et al, 2010; Navarro et al, 2020; Olaide & Juliet, 2020; Soysal, 2021; Uğurlu et al, 2020; Wang et al, 2020), its effectiveness in the treatment of trauma (Giacomucci & Marquit, 2020; Gotseva-Balgaranova et al, 2020; Hudgins, 2019, 2022) and the effectiveness of the role reversal technique (Gopakumar, 2022; Kellermann, 1994; Nunes et al, 2018). However, there was an evident lack of studies on the effectiveness of the role reversal technique in victims of sexual abuse.…”

“…Ultimately, this psychodrama technique allows the individual to see him or herself and the other from a new perspective, where there is a reorganization of his or her internal representations and the development of new roles, which allows the person to break out of the vicious cycle of thinking and feeling in which they had found themselves, creating a new vision of themselves and the other, leading to conflict resolution and self-integration (Gopakumar, 2022;Kellermann, 1994). Kellermann (1994) argues for the existence of three processes in the role reversal technique: (i) empathic conquest of the role (use of empathic skills to enter the world of the other, in order to "become the other"); (ii) reproduction of the action (individuals assume the role of the other, reproducing and reporting it); and (iii) feedback on the role (participants reflect on the interaction that took place, on their responses and those of the other).…”
