Seismic-based Reservoir Dynamic Characterization During Reservoir Development

Abstract: Seismic data plays a crucial role in reservoir characterization. Quantitative seismic reservoir characterization workflow aims to extract reservoir properties from seismic data to identify sweet spots for exploration, appraisal and development drilling. This is all the more true if the data is to be used in 4D seismic surveys (Time-lapse seismic) for reservoir monitoring. 4D seismic data can help to capture the reservoir change, realize the reservoir dynamic characterization and facilitate an enhanced understa… Show more

“…On the contrary, in the Dongdaohaizi Sag, the acid volcanic rock fragments are not easily dissolved. Additionally, the alteration process results in the generation of a considerable quantity of minerals such as kaolinite, illite, and authigenic quartz, which contribute to the plugging of pore throats, 68 leading to severe deterioration in reservoir properties (Figure 10B and Figure 6C). In summary, the diagenetic alteration process of intermediately basic volcanic rock fragments proves to be effective in enhancing and preserving reservoir properties, whereas the diagenetic alteration process of acidic volcanic rock fragments is detrimental to the evolution of reservoir properties.…”
