Selected Tire Characteristics and Their Relation to Its Radial Stiffness

Abstract: Efficient machining using the technology of wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) is a compromise between cutting speed and surface quality. Typical morphology of WEDM processed surface features plenty of craters caused by electrospark discharges produced during the cutting process. The study deals with the evaluation of S-parameters enabling quantitative evaluation of the surface in all directions which are technically significant. Attention was also paid to surface morphology and its evaluation using 3D… Show more

“…The next most widely used measure to improve the vehicle traction performance is a change in tire inflation pressure [ 37 , 38 , 39 ]. Lower inflation pressure increases the tire contact area, improving the tire function under poor traction conditions.…”

“…Battiato and Diseren ( 2013) stated that the tractor developed higher drawbar pull when tyre inflation pressure decreased and wheel load increased. Gee-Clough, McAllister and Evernden (1977); Helexa (2014); Kučera, Helexa and Molenda (2016); Helexa et al (2022) presented the concept of tractor tractive performance depending on tyre inflation as well. In case of the spike tyres, wheel load and tyre inflation pressure do not have to be changed because the wheels grip is improved by the steel spikes.…”

“…For example, the use of a four-wheel drive tractor instead of a rear-wheel drive tractor [9][10][11][12], tracks instead of wheels [13][14][15], dual wheels instead of single wheels, high-performance radial ply tires [16] instead of outdated bias ply tires, etc. Finally, tire inflation pressure [17][18][19][20] is a very important operation factor that positively affects tractor tractive performance and soil compaction due to an optimum ratio between the tire contact patch [21,22] and the tire rolling resistance. Today's modern tractors allow for an automatic change in tire inflation pressure based on the actual operation regime of the tractor, whether working in a field or during road transport.…”
