Selective and sensitive determination of protoberberines by capillary electrophoresis coupled with molecularly imprinted microextraction

Abstract: In this work, we developed a novel molecularly imprinted solid-phase microextraction with capillary electrophoresis method for the selective extraction and determination of protoberberines in complicated samples. The imprinted monolith was prepared in a micropipette tip-based device by using acrylamide as the functional monomer, ethyleneglyoldimethacrylate as the cross-linker and dimethylsulfoxide as the porogen, and exhibited an imprinting factor of 2.41 to berberine, 2.36 to palmatine and 2.38 to jatrorrhizi… Show more

“…Traditional methods such as Soxhlet extraction, reflux, ultrasonic and liquid‐liquid extraction were usually used for phytochemical extraction from various samples. Besides, pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) or accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) , MAE , SPE , matrix solid‐phase dispersion (MSPD) and SPME were also gained much attentions.…”

“…With regard to Phellodendri chinensis cortex , the alkaloids, polysaccharides , flavonoids , phytosterols, coumarins , and triterpenes are the major ingredients. A large amount of pharmacological reports proved that alkaloid components including phellodendrine, jatrorrhizine, palmatine, berberine, magnoflorine, columbamine, protopine, and tetrahydropalmatine were the main active components of Phellodendri chinensis cortex . Modern pharmacological experiments suggested that Phellodendri chinensis cortex possessed various pharmacological actions , which has been widely prescribed to remove damp heat, eliminate dampness, counteract toxicity, purge pathogenic fire, relieve consumptive fever, diarrhea and other syndromes .…”

“…Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), with virtues of high stability, high selectivity, and ease of synthesis, have been widely applied in selective enrichment of target compounds in complex matrix . Based on the idea of the molecular imprinting technique, ion‐imprinted polymers (IIP) have attracted much attention as selective sorbents for enrichment of metal ions before analysis .…”
