Abstract:Thioflavin T (ThT) is a typical dye used to visualize the aggregation and formation of fibrillar structures, e.g., amyloid fibrils and peptide nanofibrils. ThT has been considered to produce stable fluorescence when interacting with aggregated proteins. For single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM)-based optical super-resolution imaging, a photoswitching/blinking fluorescence property is required. Here we demonstrate that, in contrast to previous reports, ThT exhibits intrinsic stochastic blinking propert… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
