Seminal plasma arising from the whole boar sperm-rich fraction increases the stability of sperm membrane after thawing1,2

Abstract: Boar spermatozoa arising from the sperm-rich ejaculate fraction are reported to have a more stable plasma membrane and are more resistant to cold shock and premature acrosome reaction than spermatozoa from the whole ejaculate. Furthermore, seminal plasma (SP) can increase the cryotolerance of boar spermatozoa, and in other domestic species, it has the ability to reverse cryopreservation damage. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of boar SP arising from the whole sperm-rich ejaculate fraction (SP-SRF) on … Show more

“…The freezing rate was -20°C/min from 5 to -120°C. Subsequently, the straws were immersed in liquid nitrogen at -196°C and stored in goblets within cryogenic tanks (Torres et al 2016a). Two straws per ejaculate and treatment were thawed in a water bath at 37°C for 30 seconds and subsequently pooled.…”

“…Studies indicate that BSPs protect ram spermatozoa subjected to cryopreservation 13 and empirically relate to fertility of dairy bulls evaluated both in vitro 14 and in vivo 15 . Treatment of sperm with diluted seminal plasma and sperm-rich fraction of seminal plasma is beneficial to frozen-thawed sperm from boars 16 , 17 and cryotolerance of boar sperm can be estimated based on phosphorylation patterns of HSP70 18 , indicating that seminal components are important for viability of cryopreserved sperm. In addition to direct effects on sperm physiology, seminal proteins also appear to influence post-fertilization events as well.…”

“…Це насамперед полягає у відсутності активності СОД та кількості вітаміну А і вітаміну Е у першій та четвертій фракціях їх еякулятів. Різну біохімічну і фізіологічну повноцінність різних фракцій еякулятів також відмічено у дослідженнях (Torres et al, 2016;Ratchamak, 2019). Проте виявлено, що найоптимальніше формується спермопродукція в особин сильного врівноваженого жвавого та спокійного типів ВНД (Stoianovskyi et al, 2020).…”
