Sennosides and carbohydrates in developing pods of Cassia species

Abstract

The content of sennosides and carbohydrates decreased with the maturation of pods. They were found to be maximum in 2 day and minimum in 20 day old pods of Cassia angustifolia, C. acutifolia and C. italica. No sennosides were found in 15 and 20 day old pods of C. italica.
