Sensing and sensitive visualization of latent fingerprints on various surfaces using a versatile fluorescent aggregation‐induced emission‐based coumarin derivative

Abstract: The marked rise in criminal activity in society has made a difficult task for forensic scientists who aim to track any crime scene effectively, therefore visualization of latent fingerprints (LFPs) plays an increasingly vital role in forensics. In the present report, a highly sensitive solvatochromism, aggregation-induced emission-based 2-(4-nitrophenyl)-3H-benzocoumarin fluorescent dye (CFD) was fabricated using an ultrasonication protocol. The fluorescence properties of the CFD were analyzed using fluorescen… Show more

“…With the guidance of this principle, a library of AIEgens with emission covering the entire visible spectral region (400-700 nm), and even extending into the first near-infrared (NIR-I, 700-900 nm) and second NIR (NIR-II, 1000-1700 nm) region have been developed [24][25][26][27][28][29]. For their potent advantages such as high brightness, easily tunable property, and good biocompatibility, AIEgens have found extensive applications in the biomedical field, particularly in the precise diagnosis and therapeutic interventions for various diseases [30][31][32][33][34][35].…”

“…A wide range of synthetic organic dyestuffs is commercially available for various applications such as paints, inks, and textiles. Synthetic organic dyestuffs are essential for a diversity of commercial products to preserve their consistent colorimetric properties [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. DCDHF-bearing chromophores have proven high photostability, high extinction coefficients, and thermal stability.…”
