Separation and Purification of Two Saponins from Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis by a Macroporous Resin

Abstract: An effective method for separating and purifying critical saponins (polyphyllin II and polyphyllin VII) from a Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis extract was developed in this study which was environmentally friendly and economical. Static adsorption kinetics, thermodynamics, and the dynamic adsorption-desorption of macroporous resins were investigated, and then the conditions of purification and separation were optimized by fitting with an adsorption thermodynamics equation and a kinetic equation. Effective NK… Show more

“…At the same time, the porous structure of the macroporous adsorption resin allows for the screening of organic substances with different molecular weights . Depending on the molecular weight of the organics, the adsorption force in the resin varies, and then the resin is eluted with a specific solvent to screen the organics for separation. , There are many factors that affect the adsorption effect of the resin, such as the nature of the loading solvent, the composition of the separated material, and the concentration of the loading solution, so the whole adsorption process has to consider various factors to determine the optimal conditions for adsorption and desorption.…”

“…chinensis (PPC) because of the fact that MPPY has few common peaks in the HPLC fingerprint chromatography spectra and its qualitative analysis remains a significant challenge. [11][12][13] As a result, it is difficult to comprehensively evaluate the quality of MPPY. At present, the fingerprint technology is considered to be one of the most rational and powerful approaches for quality evaluation of TCMs, and has been used by the World Health Organization and the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) of China for the determination of TCMs.…”
