Abstract:Industrial and academic interest converge on scheduling flow shops with sequence-and timedependent maintenance. We posit that anticipatory, integrated scheduling of operational and maintenance tasks leads to superior performance to purely 'wait-then-fix' handling of the maintenance tasks. Motivated by an industrial problem with (sequence dependent) setup times, maximum separation constraints, and a combination of sequence-and time-dependent maintenance tasks, this paper introduces an integer programming soluti… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
