“…It has been reported that the basal DA output in the cACC is not significantly different from that in the sACC (29). The concentrations of DA and DOPAC that were detected in this study are similar to those reported in the striatum (30). Moreover, the steady DA level reported in this study is close to that reported in the sACC (31), but higher than that reported in the whole ACC (32).…”

“…2) and was consistent with previous findings. 26,28) We also confirmed the induction of AIMs by repeated L-DOPA treatment in 6-OHDA-lesioned rats in the present and previous studies. 13) This induction may be due to the facilitation of neurotransmission of DA synthesized from exogenous L-DOPA in the unilateral DA-depleted striatum by 6-OHDA; in the striatum on the lesion side, DA was synthesized in 5-HT neurons instead of DA neurons because 5-HT neurons contain AADC, an enzyme for DA synthesis.…”

“…Animals that made at least 5 turns/min with the methamphetamine challenge were selected and used to evaluate subsequent L-DOPA-induced involuntary movements. We previously reported the immediate and almost complete destruction of DA neurons in the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental area, resulting in the near total depletion (2% of normal) of DA in the striatum ipsilateral to the 6-OHDA injection, 28) using methods similar to those used in the present study.…”

“…One popular model in rats is produced by the unilateral stereotaxic injection of the neurotoxin 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) into the medial forebrain bundle or substantia nigra [4]. In this model, there is an immediate and almost complete destruction of the dopamine neurons of the substantia nigra and of the ventral tegmental area, resulting in near total depletion (2% of normal) of dopamine in the ipsilateral striatum to the 6-OHDA injections [5]. Immunohistochemical study showed there is no evident damage of dopaminergic neurons and fibers in the brain contralateral to the 6-OHDA injections [5,6].…”
