“…In addition, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis found that patients with ANXA2 negative expression had a significantly longer overall survival than those with www.nature.com/scientificreports/ ANXA2 positive expression. And Cox multivariate analysis showed that ANXA2 positive expression was an independent risk factors for the survival of OSCC patients, which was in accordance with the results of Zhang et al 17 . However, it still need to do more in-depth statistical analysis with large samples to verify the relationship of ANXA2 and prognosis and survival of OSCC patients.…”

“…Structurally, annexin A2 is a 36 kDa peripheral membrane protein that belongs to the annexin family of calcium- and phospholipid-binding proteins composed of 12 paralogs in humans and is originally characterized by the ability to bind and aggregate anionic phospholipid membranes in a calcium-dependent manner [5]. Abnormal expression of annexin A2 was found in hepatocellular carcinoma and other types of tumors, such as pancreatic cancer [6, 7], gastric adenocarcinoma [8], prostate carcinoma [9], high-grade glioma [10], oral squamous cell carcinoma [11], and breast cancer [12]. Overexpression of annexin 2 is involved in several pathological processes, such as tumor cell adhesion, proliferation, apoptosis, tumor neoangiogenesis, invasion, and metastasis [13].…”

“…AnxA2 has been shown to interfere with multiple cellular processes, and particularly in cancer progression. AnxA2 is overexpressed in numerous types of cancer, including colorectal cancer, hepatocellular cancer, esophageal cancer, oral cancer, gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer (39)(40)(41)(42)(43)(44). It is also a serum marker for hepatocellular carcinoma, and has been suggested to have an important role in liver cancer progression.…”
