Serum IL-8 acts as a novel biomarker in the diagnosis of patients with laryngeal cancer

Abstract: Background: Cytokines has the capacity to serve as biomarkers and therapy targets in a number of cancers. The aim of this study was to estimate the diagnostic potential of serum IL-8 in laryngeal cancer. Methods: Serum levels of IL-8 in 126 laryngeal cancer patients and 112 healthy controls were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) analysis. The association of IL-8 with clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed via χ2 test. Additionally, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) cur… Show more

“…Though the incidence of GC in many countries is declining, it remains a major cause of cancer-associated mortality in China [ 6 , 7 ]. Owing to the absence of significant symptoms in early GC, most GC patients have already reached middle or advanced stages when diagnosed, which causes a dismal prognosis [ 8 ]. Hence, it is an urgent need to further investigate the mechanism of GC and find an efficient target for its treatment.…”
