“…Both for boys and girls, before applying correction factors (i.e., age, BMI and pubertal development), an inversely proportional relationship was found between the IGF-1 and 25(OH)D values. This relationship was no longer evident after adjustment according to the correction factors for the IGF-1 values [68].…”

“…Of the six studies reported, only two identified a direct proportionality between the levels of 25(OH)D and the levels of IGF-1 at baseline. Both the study of Marwaha and of Gannagé-Yared have shown a possible inversely proportional relationship between 25(OH)D and IGF-1 levels such that without applying conversion factors such as age, BMI and pubertal stage, the subjects with vitamin deficiency D had higher IGF-1 values [67, 68]. A hypothesis to justify such conflicting results is the possibility that vitamin D metabolites behaves differently on the GH/IGF-1 axis depending on whether the subject has a vitamin D deficiency or normal values.…”

“…Практично не досліджено вплив вітаміну D на функціонування системи ГР/ІЧР-1 у дітей та підлітків із захворюваннями ендокринної системи, зокрема не вивчена роль вітаміну D у патогенезі різних форм патології росту й фізичного розвитку [18].…”
