Interestingly, serum uric acid has been shown to independently associate with hypertension [38], renal dysfunction [39] and CVD [40] in patients with RA and may be a common denominator or predictor for CVD and CKD in RA; indeed serum uric acid may be another novel risk factor, alongside systemic inflammation, for CVD in RA [41 ].…”
