Abstract:BACKGROUND:
Evidence from trials suggests that patent foramen ovale closure is superior to medical therapy alone in reducing stroke recurrence in men but not in women. Evidence from real-world data on the impact of sex on outcomes after patent foramen ovale closure, however, remains scarce.
