Ship Trajectory Clustering Based on Trajectory Resampling and Enhanced BIRCH Algorithm

Abstract: Automatic identification systems (AIS) provides massive ship trajectory data for maritime traffic management, route planning, and other research. In order to explore the valuable ship traffic characteristics contained implicitly in massive AIS data, a ship trajectory clustering method based on ship trajectory resampling and enhanced BIRCH (Balanced Iterative Reducing and Clustering using Hierarchies) algorithm is proposed. The method has been tested using 764,393 AIS trajectory points of 13,845 ships in the wa… Show more

“…BERT employs the Masked Language Model (MLM) approach, randomly masking certain words to predict the masked portions based on contextual information before and after the masked words (Yan et al, 2023). In contrast to traditional left-to-right single-direction language model fine-tuning methods, MLM integrates context and emphasizes word-level semantic relationships.…”

“…Within an IoT environment, the technique described in this study focuses on the continuous learning of microservice models. In order to cluster the data, K-means-and BIRCH-based clustering techniques are used [8]. As a result of this particular scenario, the clustering algorithm considers cluster centers that fall within a range of three standard deviations to be part of the same cluster.…”

“…There have been studies on the location accuracy of some AIS. For instance, a method for detecting the two most dangerous abnormal behaviors based on AIS was conducted in [14], a study establishing a major ship navigation route between ports based on the extracted ship orbiter cluster was conducted in [15], and a study suggesting a data preparation process for managing actual kinematic data and detecting fishing boats was conducted in [16]. Most studies on V-pass terminals used in most fishing boats focus only on V-pass data utilization; thus, few studies on the location accuracy-a crucial variableexist [17][18][19][20][21].…”
